Researching and Developing
Money Matters has played an active role in encouraging new responsible investment funds, thereby providing new investment solutions for clients.
In Rodger’s Master of Commerce degree thesis in the 1990s he undertook an extensive study of the potential for a New Zealand responsible investment fund and worked closely with a major fund manager on research and development. Subsequently Money Matters was instrumental in the initial research and development, then the launch of New Zealand’s first responsible investment fund investing in NZ shares. This was followed by Money Matters working with another fund manager to bring their global responsible investment offering to New Zealand and make this available to Money Matters' clients.
A key part of the Money Matters service is monitoring the appropriateness of existing funds in absolute terms and relative to other funds including new offerings whose availability Money Matters supports. Money Matters research and development activity greatly enhances its ability to be at the forefront of responsible investment.
